DANVILLE, Ky.-Rivalry games on an opponent's court present a unique challenge for sports teams. However, when the Transylvania University Pioneers volleyball team traveled to Centre College on Tuesday night, it handled them with ease and dominated the Colonels for a win in three sets.
Transy fell behind early in the first set but pulled it together and took a 20-14 lead in the first set before putting it away 25-20. The second set saw Centre jump out to a 7-3 lead but after storming back to tie it at 12, the Pioneers won the last two points to win 26-24. The final set was much lest of a contest, with Transylvania winning by a decisive margin 25-15 and sweeping the match.

Fresh off being named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player off the week, junior Erin Romito turned in another strong performance, leading Transy in kills with 14. Junior Audrey Brown and sophomore Berkleigh Brogan also gave the Pioneers strong performances; Brown recorded 24 digs and Brogan assisted on 28 of Transy's 34 kills.
With the win, Transylvania continues its hot start to open the season and moves to a record of 4-1 heading into the weekend. The Pioneers will travel to Atlanta, Ga., where they will participate in the Emory Classic and play four matches over the course of two days.
