Terre Haute, Ind. – The Transylvania track and field team wrapped up the 2020 indoor season with the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Rose-Hulman on Saturday evening.

The story of the day for Transylvania was Jacob Burnam, who captured the men's 800-meter run conference title.

The sophomore raced past the opposition with a time of 1:54.93. The performance by Burnam is one of the fastest in HCAC history and sets a new Transylvania school record for the third straight week.

On the women's side, Kali Nolan collected points for the Pioneers by posting a seventh-place finish in the women's 400-meter dash and an eighth-place showing in the women's 200-meter dash.

"Today, we laid the foundation for the direction of this program," said McNulty. "The blueprints included an overall conference title from Jacob in the 800 in which he just missed posting the all-time conference record and a strong showing in the 400 and 200 by Kali."

Additionally, Gunnar Eaton picked up a seventh-place finish in the men's weight throw event with a final throw of 14.27 meters while Loralei Griffiths captured a seventh-place finish in the women's 60-meter hurdles event with a time of 10.16 seconds in the finals.

"We had a beautiful blend of senior leadership with a seventh-place finish in the men's weight throw from Gunnar Eaton, as well as a slew of underclassmen bringing excitement and growth, culminating in Loralei making the finals and finishing seventh in the women's 60-meter hurdles," remarked McNulty.

The Pioneers will open the outdoor season with a trip to Charleston, West Virginia, for the Golden Eagle Invitational. The meet is set for a 12 noon start on the campus of the University of Charleston.
