Transylvania women’s tennis remains perfect in HCAC play after home win vs. Earlham

Lexington, Ky. - The Transylvania women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 victory over a shorthanded Earlham College Quakers team at the Transylvania Tennis Courts on Wednesday afternoon.

With the victory, the Pioneers improve to 6-1 on the season and a perfect 6-0 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, while the Quakers fall to 0-9 overall and 0-7 in league play.

The Transylvania duo of Porsche Robinson and Alyssa Igyarto opened the day with a rousing 8-0 win over the team of Madison Dalzell and Gloria Aligbe in the No. 1 doubles match. The victory was the first of Igyarto's career in a No. 1 matchup.

Robinson went on to claim a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Dalzell in the No. 1 singles match before Sheila Cetina closed out the Transylvania victory with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Aligbe at No. 2 singles.

The Pioneers will be back in action tomorrow night as they travel to Hanover, Indiana, for an HCAC showdown against the Hanover College Panthers. The match, previously scheduled to be played this past Monday but was postponed due to weather, is set for a 4:00 p.m. start at the Zeddies Tennis Center.
