Lexington, Ky. – The Transylvania swimming and diving team wrapped up a string of three dual meets in fewer than 72 hours with a home meet on Sunday afternoon against the regional opponent Sewanee Tigers at the William T. Young Center.
The Transylvania women's swimming team reeled off seven first-place finishes between individual and relay teams to pace the Pioneers while the Transylvania men collected a pair of wins between Drew Dodds and Connor Hood; the Sewanee women defeated the Transylvania women 144.5 to 94.5 while the Tiger men prevailed 137 to 70 for the 281.5-164.5 combined win.
Mattie Fogle fueled the fire for the Pioneers with a pair of wins in the women's 200 freestyle (2:07.50) and the women's 500 freestyle (5:44.91) and joined in on a win in the women's 200 freestyle relay. Along with Fogle, Sami Monarch, Benton Patrick, and Emma Lloyd touched the wall first in 1:46.60.
Haerle wrapped up a strong Sunday with a win in the women's 100 individual medley (1:05.49) and a second-place finish in the women's 100 breaststroke (1:11.41).
Monarch was the other winner on the women's side with a first-place showing in the women's 100 freestyle in 56.61 seconds.
Drew Dodds and Connor Hood led the way for the Transylvania men; Dodds took first in the men's 100 individual medley with a 57.32-second sprint and added a second-place finish in the men's 100 butterfly with a time of 55.25 seconds.
Hood earned a win in the men's 200 freestyle (1:52.19) and picked up a second-place showing in the men's 500 freestyle (5:12.55).
The Pioneers will break for the next two weekends before returning to competition for the two-day Transylvania Invitational at the Lancaster Aquatic Center at the University of Kentucky in Lexington on Saturday and Sunday, December 7-8.
