West Palm Beach, Fla. – Lexie Lamar finished off the third and final round of the D-III Women's Preview tournament on Sunday afternoon with an eight-over-par 80 to lead the Transylvania women's golf team at the D-III Women's Preview tournament at the PGA National Palmer course.
After carding scores of 86 and 81 in her first two rounds on Saturday, the senior completed her three-round performance at PGA National with a weekend-best 80 to finish in a tie for 27th place upon the 70-player leaderboard.
Competing against 12 other teams and 70 players representing some of the best perennial women's golf programs at the Division III level, Lamar began her final round with a birdie and added another on her seventh hole of the round to turn out a three-round score of 247.
Rachel Fine also saved her best round of the weekend for Sunday with a nine-over-par 81, completing her time at PGA National with a 253, good for 40th place. Fine matched Lamar with two birdies in the final round.
Transylvania recorded its best team score of the three rounds on Sunday, producing a 353 for a three-round total of 1069.
The Pioneers are back in action on September 21 to compete in the two-round HCAC Preview event at Bluffton Golf Club in Bluffton, Ohio. The tournament will provide the Pioneers with their first look at the course which will host next month's conference championship. The winner of the conference championship will earn the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference's automatic bid into the 2020 NCAA National Championships, which will also be held at PGA National next May.
