Jekyll Island, Ga. – Junior Meredith Moir shot a seven-over par 72 in Sunday's final round to lead the Transylvania women's golf team to a 16th-place team finish at the Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
After shooting a team-best 77 in Saturday's second round, Moir had a consistent day Sunday to finish with a three-day score of 235, good for a share of share of 25th on the individual leaderboard in the 120-competitor field. Moir also tallied a team-high five birdies in the tournament.
The Pioneers showed steady improvement throughout the three-day tournament as they shot 36-over par as a team in Sunday's final round after shooting a 46-over and a 53-over in the tournament's first two rounds respectively.
Sophomore Rachel Fine shot up 11 spots on the leaderboard on Sunday, carding a seven-over par 72, her best round of the weekend, to finish in 62nd place.
After shooting rounds of 14-over par 72 and 15-over par 72 on the first two days of the tournament, junior Jenna Soderling turned in a strong round of nine-over which moved her up five spots in the final standings for a share of 78th place.
As a team, the Pioneers registered ten birdies on the weekend.
Up next, the Pioneers will travel to Palm Springs, California to take part in the Bulldog Classic Golf Tournament hosted by the University of Redlands on March 26 and 27.
