Crestview Hills, Ky. – The Transylvania softball team saw its offense stall as the Pioneers dropped a pair of games to the Thomas More University Saints at Thomas More Field on Wednesday night.
In game one, neither team was able to manufacture a run over the first two innings. Then, in the bottom of the third, the Saints scored a pair of runs to take control of the game for good.
The Saints tacked on another run in the fourth and then scored their final run of the game in the fifth, extending their lead to 4-0 over the Pioneers.
Kameron Bowling picked up the loss for Transylvania. The sophomore tallied seven strikeouts and allowed just two earned runs in seven innings of work.
Game two saw both teams struggle to create any offense as the Pioneers and Saints combined for nine hits and no runs over the first seven innings of play. With the score tied at 0-0, the teams headed to extra innings.
In the top of the eighth, Alyssa Nunn singled up the middle and later advanced to second. However, the Pioneers were unable to bring Nunn home and the game remained scoreless.
In the bottom of the frame, the Saints brought the game to a close when Mary Beth Odom smacked a three-run home run over the fence in left field to give Thomas More the 3-0 victory.
The Pioneers will now return home to face the Defiance College Yellow Jackets on Saturday, April 13 in an HCAC doubleheader. First pitch between the Pioneers and Yellow Jackets is set for 1:00 p.m. at Hall Field.
