Transylvania University and the Transylvania Athletics Department officially dedicate the renovated John and Donna Hall Field on Saturday, October 14 at 1:30 p.m.
Originally constructed in 1996, the John R. Field multipurpose venue served as a home for Transylvania soccer, field hockey, and softball competition. By 2013, softball became the main sport contested at Hall Field. With an opening 20-year legacy complete, plans to renovate the field to a softball-specific venue were laid out in the spring of 2016.
Ground broke on the stadium renovation in October 2016, with the field made ready for gameplay by late April of 2017, in time for the Transylvania softball team's first-ever NCAA Tournament super regional, which was hosted at the renovated Hall Field.
Features of the new Hall Field include brand new dugouts for home and visiting teams, improved wifi access and connectivity, a brand-new scoreboard beyond the right field fence which serves as one of the centerpieces of the new venue. The field also underwent a 90-degree rotation, with home plate now facing to the northwest.
Other field updates include brand new batting catches and pitching bullpens, and a permanent outfield fence.
