Terre Haute, Ind. - The Transylvania men's tennis team split a pair of matches with the Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers and the Webster Gorloks at the Joy Hulbert Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Pioneers started their day off by relinquishing an 8-1 decision to the defending Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference champion Fightin' Engineers before rebounding with a dominant performance en route to an 8-1 victory over the Gorloks in Transylvania's final nonconference bout of the season.

The Pioneers opened the morning conference match with a strong showing from Arjun Gupta and Hugo Kouhkna, who teamed to claim an 8-3 victory in the No. 1 doubles matchup.

However, Rose-Hulman took control of the match with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles before going on to claim all six singles matches and the 8-1 dual match victory.

In the matchup with Webster, the Pioneers wasted little time in grabbing control on the court. Transylvania took convincing victories from the Gorloks in all three doubles matches.

Transylvania went on to clinch the dual match with five straight victories in singles play, including a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win for Noah McNamee in the No. 4 singles match.

The Pioneers' lone loss in the match came via a thrilling battle in the No. 6 singles matchup between Hunter Gregg and Justin Kohler of Webster. Gregg went ahead early before falling 7-6 (8-4), 1-6, 0-1 (7-10) in a third-set tiebreak.

Transylvania will be back in action on Wednesday, April 10 as the Pioneers travel to Hanover, Indiana for an HCAC clash with the Hanover College Panthers. The match is set for a 4:00 p.m. start at the Zeddies Tennis Center.
